Trouble making cuts

When i use blade, it is making a different cut on video and audio, and they are still linked.  And sometimes I can't make a cut at all.  Any help is very much appreciated!

First, zoom in a bit on the timeline so you can see a little better, then post a screen shot of what you see when you cut so we can better understand the exact question.

Make sure the sequence settings match your footage.  I've seen similar behavior when the frame rates of media and sequence do not match.

Dont use the "blade". ( Razor Tool).  (A crude and blunt editing instrument despite its name)

Position the playhead and use the Keyboard Short Cut for "Add Edit".  CTRL-K or SHift-CTRL-K

No need to zoom in to use this tool. The Program Monitor is your friend.

    Ensure your tracks are targetted.

Sometimes I noticed that if you CTRL-K, it may not cut it.  You need to click on the playhead first.

    No.

Ensure the track is "targetted" and it will cut every time.

Use Shift=CTRL-K if you want to cut hrough all tracks.
