I have a Microtek i900 which Elements does not recognize when I attempt to use import WIA. However I also have a Cannon multi-function which Elements does recognize. How can I configure Elements to recognize my Microtek scanner when I go to import - WIA?

Nothing to do with Adobe. You simply need the proper drivers. If there are no WIA drivers, then Adobe programs can't use it.
