Is there a way to import, or somehow get the contents of 1 illustrator document, layers and all, into another, existing illustrator document?
what I'm envisioning is this: Let's say you have several versions of basically the same work, in different documents, and for convenience/evaluation purposes, you'd like them in the same document, each on its own art board.
While you can copy from the origin, and paste into the new document, the pasted stuff winds up all on 1 layer, which can be an awful shame...be nice if you could both import it or paste it or append it, have it be live, AND for all its own layers to be there.
...perhaps I'm asking too much?
