You might want to show us a screenshot of the problem.

    Shaheeds,

It sounds as if you are talking about inherent parts of the typeface, which you get rid of if you otline (Type>Outline), but then you also get rid of the option of editing the text.

    Shaheedz,

What is the full difference between the two live Type instances?

The one to the left looks as if there is a number of empty lines after the italic as.

Then I believe there is something wrong with the left one, Shaheedz.

Fonts, especially free ones, may fall short. Illy is more particular than most and even refuses to open certain fonts altogether, including some that may be opened in other applications.

What happens if you try to use the font in another application, such as a word processing one?

If the EPS includes live text objects, the bounds are going to include the bounds of the textFrame.

Illustrator does not provide the means by which to set a textframe to auto-fit its content. So if it's an AreaType object, you need to shrink the textframe.

If it's a PointType object, then check it for invisible characters (ex: paragraph returns) or invisible characters and an inappropriately large leading setting (line spacing).

    Shaheedz,

I believe James has it with the

inappropriately large leading setting (line spacing).

This means that you may force it to work, but the font would be rather useless in most other applications, so it may be worth reconsidering a more cooperative font.

Excess leading alone will not enlarge the textFrame. That's why I said "...or invisible characters and  an inappropriately large leading..."

That is true, James, and my quote was misleading, sorry.

I fell straight into the short circuit of linking it with the similar Word processing issue and suggesting the solution of dropping the font as useless because of the leading.

I think you are right, Shaheedz, see Post #2.

I think this large bounding box is due to extended letters in fonts that forced the whole font to take the same hight...

What is the font that you used in your problem example?
