I've been plagued by constant error messages of "The importer reported a generic error." This happens with both XML files as well as media files. Sometimes this happens with files that are from the same camera roll as other files that work just fine.
I've uninstalled, used the cleanup tool and reinstalled, but it has been of no help.
I hope someone has some suggestions, because this causes epic delays in production.
Using the Media Browser did not solve the issue. I got the same error message.
If anyone has any ideas who or how to ask for further assistance, it would be highly appreciated since production at the moment is at a standstill. Which is quite a major problem.
If you guys need more specs on the system and software I'm running, I'm happy to provide them. I just thought that the software and OS information were enough in this case since it seems to be quite clearly a software issue.

Damn, I seem to be full of fail with this thread. I meant to write Creative Cloud, which probably is infinitely more helpful than just Creative Suite. And I do keep it up to date. My sincerest apologies for the brainfart. I did intend to follow the FAQ and other documents you linked to earlier.
The Media Browser window simply says Files.
An update to another program fixed the XML import issue, so I'm back in business for now, but the generic import error situation still haunts me irregularly, so if you have any thoughts, I appreciate the help inspite of the wobbly start because of my sudden inability to communicate effectively.
