I have Photoshop CS6 and Elements Premiere 11 and both were showing estimated file sizes properly up until a couple of weeks ago, and both stopped at the same time. Using Image, Mode I have verified on both that the images I am trying to save are 8 bit and not 16 bit images. I am on Window 7, 64bit.
Please help as I find this function very useful.
Going to need a bit more detail here. Where are you looking at the estimated file sizes (there are several places that it might be)? How much different is it than the actual file size? What file formats are you working with?
Thanks for your quick response. I use primarily .dng and .jpg formats and on the Save and Save As windows they normally show file size just before hitting Enter, but no longer. Those estimates certainly aren’t deadly accurate, but from my experience I’d say they’re normally within +/-10%, or so.
Do you really mean Photoshop Elements? If not it would be be better to move this to Premiere Elements, since there's no mention of PSE anywhere in this thread. Just let me know if you really mean PRE.
In Save and Save As in the last window where you can adjust the .jpg compression it normally shows the (estimated) File Size, which it no longer does. I’m not sure what “preview” you are interested in, although I don’t recall changing any settings before the file size quit showing up in both programs.
When you said premire elements 11 did you mean photoshop elements 11?
Could you post a screenshot of what your seeing your jpeg options dialog?
What type of files are you saving to jpeg where you don't see the estimated file size displayed?
Thanks for your prompt support in this.
In PSE11 it is the Editor associated with Elements Organizer that I am using as well as Photoshop CS6.
Below are multiple screen shots with descriptions:

Well, after more investigation last night and this morning I think Elements is working fine and that I was confused by the way Image, Mode shows "8 bits/channel" either bold or grayed out, and not with choices between 8 & 16 (or 32) bits as CS6 does.
Thanks to all of you for your help and this can probably be closed out now. I'll start a new question on the Photoshop Forum now.
