I have an illustrator file of a map that is placed into Indesign. I need to include the layers of the Illustrator file in the pdf exported from Indesign. I have included "Create Acrobat Layers" and selected latest pdf version when exporting. Is there anyway of achieving this?
That still wouldn't work Bob as you need Indesign to forward on layers in imported/linked Illustrator file to Acrobat PDF. Surely this feature could be set up by Adobe as we already have "Object Layer Options" that gives control on Illustrator layers in Indesign?
Do you mean to copy Illustrator elements into Indesign? Or do you mean to "Place" Illustrator file multiple times on separate Indesign layers - unfortunately I have 50 layers so this wouldn't be an option.
Then I'm afraid what you want to do will not work. Illustrator/PDF layers do not translate into InDesign layers and do not carry through on export to PDF from InDesign. A PDF/AI file placed into InDesign is nothing more than a graphic (though it does maintain vectors and type).
