I have an aluminum blu tooth mac Japanese keyboard. The tilde key is shift+^. I tried to use the tilde key in illustrator to duplicate the drawing of a shape. But shift constrains the shape to be drawn from the center. So I remaped the tilde key to be on top of the ^ key so I didn't need shift, and still no go. I tried all the keys on my keyboard and can't get the effect of mulitplying what you are drawing.
Anyone get this to work?
AI uses a fixed keyboard mapping and some keys just remain unusable in foreign languages... It's been forever this way and there's nothing you can do about it. It's realyl the pest and Adobe doesn't seem to care to fix it...
I had my hopes up after reading this:
Illustrator supports Unicode, a standard that assigns a unique number to every single character, no matter which language or type of computer you use.
But I guess that is just for adding text, and not for quick keys.
What a pain
Do you have to use shift to get your tilde? I assume the circumflex key = ^
It might be the Mac keyboard I guess.
Hopefully a Mac user has some knowledge. Unless Mylenium is right, and it just doesn't work on a Mac.
