Why won't premiere CS6 play audio for imported AVCHD files on my window 7 laptop?

After I've imported the AVCHD file the video plays just fine, but the audio isn't there at all. I still have the original video files on my SD card, I've tried Wondershare to convert the file, but the video became corrupted. Any tips?

    I installed Premier Pro CS6 last week, so I believe it's the most updated version. This is my first project with CS6. The file is a .MTS AVCHD video. The video & audio play just fine in Windows Media Player.

     

    When I started the project I imported the file and no audio was transferred in the preview or on the timeline. I have an intel Core HP Pavilion Entertainment PC with Windows 7. I was running Spotify, Chrome, & Microsoft Word when I imported the footage.

    I know a few folks who use that camera without issue.  Can you upload a clip for testing?

    Not necessarily, go to Help > Updates. We're on Premiere Pro CS6 (6.0.3) in Windows now.

    Uninstall Spotify and see if that helps. I've heard about some crazy things related to that app. Better to run all these apps on a cheap secondary computer or iPad.

    I uninstalled spotify and tried to import the AVCHD file again, and the sound wasn't there. I imported an MOV file just to make sure that it wasn't my Premiere, and the MOV file worked just fine. !! WHAT SHOULD I TRY NEXT??
