How to hide a object/image when outside a specific area?

Hello, I'm fairly new to Flash and I was wondering:

Is there a way to make the whole or parts of an image disappear when it goes out of some kind of border..?

As an example here is Twilight with her eye a bit... well you see...question.png

How can you get that part of her eye (the one outside of her head) to vanish, without for eg. making a white box infront of it to hide it ( was my first way of doing it, didn't end up well when using the 'rig' with a changing background)

I appreciate the help!!

Here is an article that describes inverse masking in Flash.

The key seems to be in combining BlendMode.ERASE (Mask) and BlendMode.LAYER (MaskedObject).
