Why When using Quick Select...?

Hello,

Thanks for looking in. I was trying to figure why I must save and export and re-import to finalize or finish my work? When I use the Quick selection tool, erase most of the background (as that is my task at hand) I cannot switch over to the eraser and finish the detail stuff. The Quick Selection tool stays active? I have tried to click 'out of the work area'. Hit ENTER. My only resolve thus far is as mentioned above. Export as a Tiff, re-import and then finish it with my eraser tool.

 

Anyone?

    When there's a selection, tools (such as Eraser) and many commands and filters will only work inside the selection. Press Cmd/Ctrl+D to deselect then tools will work anywhere.

    Thank you, saved me a few steps. Just tried it and it worked. CNTRL D for Windows. Got it!
