Change color of Layer palette background?

Is there any way to change the background color of the Layer palette? (CS6/Mac here)

Working with white type and objects is very frustrating.

How about opening the Layer?

I guess the only way is to change your artboard color (it wont print).

With nothing selected, click the Document Setup button in the Control bar. Check the "Simulate Colored Paper" box under the Transparency Section. Then click the white and grey color boxes and set them to the same color. It will give the artboard a color which will not print. ([scott w] @ http://forums.adobe.com/thread/456794)
