How do I view an object while ALT-dragging/duplicating, before releasing it?

Hello,

 

I'm working on Indesign version 8.0.1 with my new Macbook, but when I'm duplicating an object, it won't show the object when I'm dragging while pressing down ALT. I can only see the object frame, but not the object itself, until I actually release it, which is really impractical and time-consuming. This wasn't a problem on my computer where I work. Does somebody know if this has something to do with preferences?

    Instead of just dragging. Alt+click and hold for second or so.

     

    Then drag.

     

    Alternatively you can set your live screen draw preference to immediate

    but I don't advise that as it can slow InDesign's performance considerably.
