Hello,
Certain font styles in Illustrator are not showing up, Arial bold italic, for instance. Arial bold and Arial italic work, but I cannot select both. Photoshop and other apps display it without problem. I have re-installed the font, cleared my system font cache (Windows), and even tried putting the fonts into the "fonts" folder. Still no luck.
I'm not sure if this is related but when Times New Roman is selected I get a strange rounded font that is definitely not Times New. Again, only Illustrator is affected.
Can anyone offer any suggestions?
Mylenium, thanks for your suggestion. The workstation actually belongs to a client who does in fact import a lot of different fonts for her work. I will call her and move/remove extra fonts and re-add the ones she needs to use now and let you know how it goes.
But if it is in fact a bad system font, why is Illustrator the only application affected?
I removed every add-on font on her workstation, leaving only what came with Windows 7. Unfortunately, this did not solve her issue. In Illustrator, she still cannot select Arial bold + italic.
I also removed Times New for testing, it was not a PS font.
Perhaps I need to re-install Illustrator?

Before doing that, I would try Reset Preferences:

1) Close the program and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (not reversible)
or
2) Move the Folder. See:
