Program error message

I am using Photoshop Elements 9 on an iMac.  I am trying to use the Edit functions; 

when I try to Open the iPhoto application to get the photo that I want to edit, I get an error message

of "Could not complete because of a program error.  I removed Elements entirely and reloaded from the disk and

then updated the files, but still receive the same error.  How can I fix this.

    Are you saying that you get an error message from iphoto when sending a pic to PSE as external editor, or that you're trying to poke around in iphoto from File>Open in PSE? If the latter, don't do that. There are two ways to use iphoto with PSE.

     

    1. Set PSE as external editor and send the photos from iphoto.

     

    2. Export the photos from iphoto, open the exported copies in PSE and import the edited photo back to iphoto as a new image.
