Open Bridge and click edit/preferences/file type associations.  Scroll down to PNG and see what default program is.  Change to CS6.

Thanks Curt Y. (I am logged in now as a different person for some reason.. not sure where my previous user name appeared..) In any case, I looked in Bridge and the PNG is not listed under anything.. as if it were wiped out from Adobe completely. Why is that? What could have caused that? The picture itself is visible in Bridge and in mini bridge but I cannot open it no matter how hard I try.

It should be listed as Portable Network Graphics which is between Portable Float Map and Post Script on the list.

If not there you might click the radio button on bottom to reset to factory defaults unless you have specific settings you do not want to loose.
