    F12.

If you have a mac with a short keyboard, like the current bluetooth keyboard, you need to add the Fn key.

F12 should work in windows. Are you using a laptop, by any chance? If so, try the Fn key and see if that helps. F11 and F112 usually work in windows, though.

Can you post a screenshot of that window that appears?

Oops, meant to add that adobe won't help since you don't have the current version.

Sorry, I thought I mentioned this, but I see I didn't. It must be an image, like a jpg or tiff or gif or png file, not a word processing format like .doc.

    Thanks, ear41.

Huh. How strange. Do you have the  F12 key assigned as a shortcut for something else system-wide? I really can't figure out why this would happen. Maybe someone else will have an idea.

Unfortunately not, because you don't have the current version.

One thing you might try is to create another user account and see if it works there. I'm afraid that you may have the same problem with PSE 11 if it's some kind of conflict with something in your system.

Not for free, but they will take a paid call.

Please launch FSV with F11 and then hit F12. Does that bring Compare Mode?

    Thanks

I think FSV = Full Screen View. Does it make a difference if you do F11, then F12?

I asked a while ago if this is a laptop and I don't think you ever replied--I can't find your answer if you did. Is it?

Have you tried adding the fn key? And if it is a laptop, what brand?
