DESPERATE - no local files appear

Suddenly, no local files appear in my local files pane.

They are very present on the hard drive.

What should I do please.  DESPERATE

    It should be an easy fix.

     

    Click the menu in the upper right of the files tab for that site and choose Site > Recreate Site Cache.

     

    If that doesn't do it...

     

    Go to Site > Manage Sites

     

    Click on the site that is missing it's files.

     

    Click Next until you get to "Where on this computer do you want to store your files"

     

    Browse to the folder on your HD.

     

    EDIT: Also, make sure you have the left hand dropdown in the Files tab set to your site and right hand drop down set to Local View

    Very nice thank you.  Alas, no effect.

    That's why I am getting desperate.

     

    The foler is there, but there is no arrow to

    access all the sub stuff.

     

    "put" does not allow me to select anything but the ENTIRE site.

    This may be easier yet...

     

    There should be a little + on the left of the folder listing. You may need to scroll the Files tab to the left to see it so you can click on it to expand it.

    Try creating a new user account on your OS with Admin level privleges.

    OK it turns out the entire local folder IS empty, and odder yet,

    on the back up drive, even the empty folder does not exist.

     

    Is this a virus behavior?

     

    Currently I am downloading the site from the site.

    Did you define a local site in DW before you began GETTING files from remote server?

    So you have no site files on your Hard Drive at all or are they possibly under a different folder with the same name?

     

    DW can sometimes "forget" where you browse to when setting the "Where on this computer do you want to store your files". When it does that, it creates a new folder with whatever name you used in the beginning of the setting up of the site.

    Suddenly I have no site files on my hard drtive, and the back up folder dissappeared altogether.

    Site definitions remain the same, ftp engagement remains in tact.

    there are no files to expand.

    Folder was there, just suddenly empty.

     

    I'm starting to think I have an OSX8.2 finder/software issue.

    Three days ago, the finder would not even open the site, and

    when i clicked on it, it would jump to previous folder, never

    allowing me to open my site.  The disappearing act 2 drives

    has me extremely flummoxed (ever usew that word?).

     

    Currently I cant even use Bridge

    Make a backup of your hardrive immediately. It's sounding like you're experiencing a hard drive failur or corruption.

    I better not as I have just lost TWO drives for the first time ever and yes, this is very backed up.

    Also check your Console.app to see what kind of messages/errors might are being generated - that might give you some clues about what might be happening to your system. Based on your description though it's sounding like a hardware failure of some sort.
