What is the white/grey square of squares next to my page numbers in Indesign Pages?

The page consists of a pdf from illustrator within it, but other pages the same don't have these squares next to the numbers.

That means that transparency is used on that spread.

It could be the use of a blending mode other than normal, reduce opacity, use of effects like drop shadow or fethered edges or the placing of imported ai, pdf, pdp, psd, tiff or indd files with transparency.
