Does anyone know how to combine version sets?  When I imported my photos they came across individually and it will take me hours to stack them one by one.

If your photos are no longer in version sets, the best you can do is stack them. There is an auto-stack feature, which should stack photos with similar capture dates, see http://helpx.adobe.com/elements-organizer/using/smart-events.html

If you are importing photos that were previously had been imported into Photoshop Elements, you are doing it wrong. YOu need to find the previous PSE catalog and then open that, and your version sets should be intact.

You could use the 'automatically suggest stack' option, which is based on visual similarity. Not a miracle solution, but quicker than purely manual stacking.
