I noticed on a review site that the new LED-lit Dell U2713 monitor has a "panel uniformity" calibration capability.
Unfortunately, the monitor tested didn't really seem to benefit much from it, but I'm intrigued; perhaps that was their first attempt and we're finally going to see monitors that self-compensate from backlight differences across the display.
Has anyone heard more about this? I'm curious if it's going to find its way into the upcoming U3014 model (almost has to, right?). It would be cool to see something like this really work on a big monitor in the $1000 range.
