how to open raw files in elements 11

    If they're in organizer, right-click a thumbnail and choose Edit with Photoshop Elements.

     

    If not, then File>Open in the editor. Go to editor>Help>Updates to be sure you have ACR 7.3, which is the latest version.

    Hi Barbara, have been trying to open photo's that are saved in my pictured in elements organizer. Am going to get photos, from file but all i'm getting is a box with a flowere pic and a ? mark, If I click on it it come up searching for missing file. Am getting very frustrated,lol

    It seems that files are disconnected, you would need to reconnect files. The file can be reconnected by File->Reconnect missing files. Then click on Browse button and browse to actual location of files and then reconnect them. Once these are reconnected you can open them in camera raw.

    I have tried to do that but it just keeps searching, when I go to browse it it showing the picture file path as being in E drive and dot the C drive where the photo it. I have no photos in E drive not even my pictures, They were downloaded using Nikon View nx2 program that came with the camera, they then go into My Pictures, they open from there no problem but not when I put them into elements organiser

    Please ignore the path shown on left hand side of 'Reconnect dialog'. From the thumbnail, you have an idea where this file is currently. So just navigate to the folder which contains image <whose thumbnail is shwon on left side>. Once done, click on 'reconnect' button. let us know if the result.

     

    There is a workaround to connect these files. Just re-import all the images in Organizer (which are shown missing), Organizer will automatically reconnect the files.

    Hi Have tried to do that but get a box with message along top "The file aready exists in the catalog"  it is also showing the incorrect file path and saying not connected to the path I have found the photo in.  The only differenct is that elements it saying it is in E drive and I have it in C drive the rest of the path is the same.

    The photos have imported into the my folders but I can't open any, every one i've tried to open brings up the box "searching for missing file" There are no photos in E drive the path it is saying doesn't exist all photos are in c drive, very very frustrating

    Hi,

     

    Please launch organizer preferences using Ctrl+K. Now tick the checkbox corresponding to Automatically reconnect missing files. This will be under Files or General section of Edit >> Preferences dialog.

    Now try re-importing the files. Let us know if the reconnect happens now.

    The box was already checked, I have updated computer, updated elements, still not working, I uninstalled, then reinstalled and still having the same problem,

    Please share a screenshot of your Organizer window. It will help in understanding the state of these files with which you are facing issues. Select one file and keep General Info pane open in the right panel, in this screenshot.
