I am using Windows8 on an HP Pavilion with an Intel I3-2130 CPU (64 bit operating system). I do very basic changes and have found the PSE 2.0 works fine for my minimal skills.

I don't know that you'll be able install pse 2 from your backup drive. You should probably use the original installation media (cd).

Another thing to find out is the size of your hard drive and free space.

Pse 2 definitely won't work if the hard drive free space is 1TB or more and that may even be too much as some people have reported that they

need 750gb or less to make pse 2 work.

My fantastic filing system finally yielded the original 2003 disk. I apparently installed it without problems.

When I tried to launch it I got the following error message: "Could not initialize Photoshop Elements because the scratch disks are full" I have a 1.5 TB Drive on my new system which is mostly free space. Could I install it on a smaller backup or misc drive? Having too much space on a drive leaves me scratching my bald head....

Yes, you can install it on a smaller drive or partition your main drive. 750 GB or less is best, as R_Kelly suggested.

I uninstalled it from the C drive and installed it from the CD to a portable drive (K) which is 120GB. I get the same error message as in #4 above.

Just after double clicking or single clicking on the pse 2 shortcut hold down the Alt+Ctrl keys and keep holding the keys until you get a

Scratch Disk Preferences dialog and point the scratch disk to your portable hard drive and maybe that will work.

Thanks! My PSE2.0 now works like a charm with Windows8 on my new PC. When the Scratch Disk Preferences appeared it had not selected a drive. I didn't try it on the 1.5TB "C" Drive. Since it worked on the smaller portable drive I decided to leave it alone.
