I used this ALL the time but I can't find it in CS6. I am running Mac OS 10.8.2, CS6.
Any dialog box (e.g. rotate, scale, shear, mirror, etc.). It used to be that you could hold down the option key when you clicked Okay and it would act the same as clicking on Copy. It was just faster because it was a keyboard shortcut.
You could try trashing your Illustrator preferences. Here's a link to where they are located: http://helpx.adobe.com/illustrator/kb/preference-file-location-illustr ator.html
Or you could try the devilishly-hard-to-get-the-timing-right keyboard shortcut: option+command+shift IMMEDIATELY after starting Illustrator.
Tip: hover your fingers over the keys and be ready to mash down just as you release the mouse from starting Illustrator.
Be aware that you will lose your preferences so once you've gone to the trouble of setting up custom preferences, save a copy to a safe place.

Thanks. I think the link might be out of date since it only gives instructions up to CS5. Fortunately, the keyboard method worked althoughthe problem persists. I will try a different keyboard. (I'm running out of ideas.)
