Why is "Show Items from Subfolders" disabled during search?

Feb 21, 2013 9:28 AM

When viewing a folder with many subfolders, the "Show Items from Subfolders" command is avaiable and I can view all (10000+) files as a "flat" list. However, if I type a keyword in the toolbar's Search box, the "Show Items from Subfolders" command is disabled. That's a big problem for me when, for example, I want to see all photos that have "skiing" in either the filename or in any of the keywords without having to open each subfolder.

Is there a reason the Subfolders option is disabled? Is there a workaround?

Thanks.

In Find window do you have "include sub-folders" checked at bottom?

Little confused here.  When I do a search the results from all the folders and subfolders are on one page.  Are you saying the search results you get are presented by folders?

No problem, we all get into a groove and sometimes it just takes a hint from an outsider to get a new look at issue.
