CS6 Can't Kern Text in Win7 x64!!? How do I fix?

I am unable to Kern any fonts in PS CS6! When I click the down arrow next to Kerning, the only options I have are Metrics, Optical, and 0... I can't manually adjust anything!!

 

I have tried turning cleartype on and off, I've tried setting the Text engine to Middle Eastern (Its default is East Asian).... I'm not sure what else to do...

 

Can someone please help!

    Forgive me if you already tried this, but if you just click with the text tool on the document

    between two letters, the other options for kerning aren't available?

    Thanks R_Kelly...

     

    So, weird... if I place the cursor between two letters I can Kern that space, but ONLY that space.... It won't let me do more than one space at a time, which means I'd manually have to adjust every space in a block of text!? How can I select the whole block of text and Kern it all at once?

    You probably want to try Tracking (to the right of Kern in the character panel).

    Tracking works with selected text and manual kern only works between two characters.

    Wow... ok... so maybe my Photoshop just had a hiccup, but before when I did Tracking it also stretched the characters out, now it's not doing that... well I feel silly.... Thanks again!
