large WAV file crashes Premiere 6.0.2

Feb 22, 2013 8:46 PM

I have a WAV file that is 78 minutes long.  It's 24 bit, 48KHz, stereo.  When I open it in the source monitor, it plays fine for about a minute, then stops.  After this, I can't play any clips, and I end up having to force quit the whole application.  What can I do to fix this?

Edit:  I noticed that when this happens, my kernel_task CPU usage is always around 101% (on an 8-core mac).

I remember there being a problem with the maximum file sizes of wav files, try splitting it in two.

I regularly bring in 90 minute files with no issues, but those files are mono. The fact that your clip is stereo may be putting it over the limit.

I am having no problem importing, playing

or editing this 106 minute, 1.14GB, 48kHz .wav file in v6.0.3.

    Joe,

Sometime back, and with older version of PrPro, but I had an ~ 120 min. PCM/WAV Soundtrack, that had no issues with it.

I do not know that it matters, but mine was 16-bit.

    Good luck,

Premiere CS6.0.3 is unable to process Broadcast WAV-files (with size of more than 4Gb). I posted feature request more than a year ago, but it's still the same... You can check my messages regarding 16-channel sound.
