I have a WAV file that is 78 minutes long. It's 24 bit, 48KHz, stereo. When I open it in the source monitor, it plays fine for about a minute, then stops. After this, I can't play any clips, and I end up having to force quit the whole application. What can I do to fix this?
Edit: I noticed that when this happens, my kernel_task CPU usage is always around 101% (on an 8-core mac).
After working with it some more, it seems the problem usually happens when I scrub through or play it fast in the source monitor. The audio will continue playing (at whatever speed it's currently at), and the app will freeze. I can leave it for as much as 10 minutes, and the audio still plays fine while the app is frozen. Also, the waveform display is highly inaccurate — it shows mostly silence, until I make an in/out point, then it draws the waveform for a few seconds surrounding the playhead.
It's good to hear that other people have had success with large files. Perhaps my problem is due to the files being 24 bit.
Jim, I'll give that a try tomorrow, but it sounds like a different problem I think.
