Why my files name switch from small letters to capital letters?

Hi guys,

I've a weird problem working with Illustrator CS6. It doesn't happen all the times but sometimes my files name switch from small letters to capital.

For example the file "file.ai" becomes "FILE.AI"

What could be the reason?

What system are you working on? Mac or Windows?

You are using a FAT file system and short names are converted to the native DOS 8.3 names instead of using the long Joliet names.

I'm using Mac. What FAT file system does it mean? By the way, not only short name have this problem but even long names...
