Premiere Elements 10 cannot export to DV AVI file

Feb 23, 2013 1:35 PM

In order to combine two timelines I have to export one to a DV AVI file, I'm told, but when I go to File Export, there are no options, and I don't see DV AVI under "Share" either. What am I missing here?

    Welcome to the forum.

The File>Export menu now only has a very few operations. What you want is Share/Publish. Also, take note of the scroll bar on the right side of that Panel, as you will likely need to scroll to see everything that you need.

    Good luck,

    No. Bill is right.

Go to Share/Computer and you'll see AVI listed as one of your output options.

E11 does not have dv-avi as output also.

Is this it for PrE11?  Should be similar in 10.

Share>Computer>Scroll to AVI>pick DVNTSC  Standard or Widescreen.  Below it says the file type will be Microsoft AVI.

Oh now I see. I wanted to expand the box by pulling it down. Did not notice the little scrollbar.

Yes, the "scroll bars," have never been as obvious, as I feel that they should be. PrE 11 is no exception. That is why I menetioned them in Reply #1. Many never even see them.

Glad that you found it, and good luck to the OP.

    Outstanding, thank you.

I was trying to scroll the "Start a New Share" page, rather than the next screen following.

The whole "share" thing is a little disorienting for an old timer. Save, Burn, Export are still the lingua franca

I think EXPORT would have been a better word.

    I agree.

As of about PrE 7, most of what everyone associated with Export, was moved to Share. Then, it has become Publish+Share.

If one is trying to cover all versions of PrE, then the term for output would need to be Export/Share/Publish.

Not sure what the purpose of the name changes was, but it still confuses many users.
