IE8 and fluid grid layout problem

How do I prevent IE8 from using the default mobile layout in fluid grid.

I have this problem on two of my sites

http://www.storeydigitalart.com

The sites work perfectly in firefox, chrome and explorer 9 but not 8 or 7. As many people are still using windows xp with explorer 8 this presents a real problem.

I love the new fluid grid layouts and it has taken considerable time to really make them work for me....however, this issue needs to be addressed
