How to fix this blown out background

Feb 24, 2013 8:20 PM

Hello,

I have a friend who sent me this picture that hasn't been retouched.

He asked me how he can fix the background.

Is there a way to do this that won't take a whole lot of time?

In this case I think it would be best to fnd an image from that shoot that has the (section of) background relatively unobstructed and less blown out, then transform and mask it to fit into this image. (Masking should not bee too hard as the hair seems to offer good contrast to the background.)

As it is now there seems to be very little useable information in that section, but maybe the RAW can provide more.

    RAW can fix that.

But has the image been taken as RAW?

You can fix a jpg or a tiff in RAW.
