ApplyLeafFormat is very slow when working with large content in FTE TLF

Hi,

I am creating my own wysiwyg editor, I have created a button to bold the content. When I clicked on it to update the display it's taking long time. Since the content is large. How to improve the performance.

Is there any way to update only that particular text display.
