The ColdFusion 8 Ajax tags are powered by the Yahoo UI library, but you can use any framework you like with CF in general.

If you have a chance, Ray Camden is running an online presentation of the CF 8 Ajax tags today that could further explain things:

I do not sure about it.
I discussed about it with Ext JS support team:

They did said to me that Adobe selected the Ext Library for AJAX in ColdFusion 8.
Is it true?

Indeed that is correct. If you can look at the /CFIDE/Scripts directory you can see the Ext-Js framework located under 'ext' folder!.

iirc, extJS evolved from yui (?) and they used to be one thing in the past.
