Why is IDML export wiping plugin configuration?

Hi,

I'm currently considering using IDML exports to automate some data entry in a document which will save me considerable amount of time.

However, when I export the .indd to .idml, the configuration of some proprietary widgets (folio slideshow, ...) is lost (needs to be set again when opening the IDML file).

Is there any reason for this to happen and any way to avoid this data loss?

What exact InDesign version?
Can you give us a detail description of your workflow?

Do you switch between two versions of InDesign?

CS5.5 => IDML => CS6
CS6 => IDML => CS5.5

What exactly has changed after reopening the IDML files?
Or do you working with Snippets (IDMS)?

Wouldn't surprise me if you're using CS5.5 or CS5 since the DPS tools were not as well integrated. But I've used IDML with CS6 and haven't seen any loss of DPS functionality with IDML.

Thank you for your answers.

I indeed use CS5.5 and found a way to obtain what I wanted. I changed to plugins I used before to some provided by Adobe.
The export now works well and the settings are kept.

Based on Bob answer, I dare guess that the "incomplete" integration of DPS tools where causing the issue.
