Why are my black tints (eg. 10% black) not showing in Indesign?

A colleague of mine is running Indesign CS5 using MacOSX 10.6 but she cannot view any light black tints such as 10% black. These always appear as white on her screen. Everyone in our team EXCEPT her can see these tints on their monitors.

 

We've tried calibrating the monitor, switcing monitors and deleting/reseting Indesign preferences but to no avail.

 

Does anyone have any ideas why she cannot view these tints? Do we need to reinstall Indesign?

 

Would appreciate any help!

    Is the problem only in InDesign? How about Illustrator or Photoshop?

    It's only in Indesign, we've checked both Photoshop and Illustrator. We are also all using the same colour profile in Indesign's Colour Settings.

    Try exporting the problem ID file with the default PDF/X-1a export settings. Do you see the tints in AcrobatPro?

    Ok, tried that and yes the tints are visible in Acrobat

    I think that eliminates color management or monitor profiling. Could there be an unusual proof setup? Is View>Proof Colors off? Try resetting the prefs, if that doesn't work can you post a capture? Something that shows the fill selected with the Color Panel. Is there transparency on the page?

    Hi Rob,

     

    I think we've solved our problem, we tried placing the monitor cable into the second port on our NEC monitor and it has seemingly fixed the issue. All this time and it was a faulty port!
