Have you chosen to always save over current file in your settings?

Go to Edit >> Preferences >> Saving Files

I forgot to mention that it is Photoshop 7. When I go to save, I always save it as a copy.

Do you mean PSE 7 or Photoshop 7 (very old version of full Photoshop)? If the latter, you might get better answers in the Photoshop forum:

After I edit the picture in Photoshop Elements 7,

I click on "File,"

And then "Save As."

However, approximately 30% of the time, the "save" or the "save as"

buttons are not available; they are "grayed out."

I then have to close the program, reopen it and start over.

I sure would like to find out my problem with PSE 7.

It is very frustrating to not be able to save a file after editing.
