Illustrator CS6 - Merge Swatches no longer functions as action.

My coworkers and myself have recently updated to Illustrator CS6, but one glaring issue we are currently dealing with is the loss of this feature. Manually invoking the 'merge swatches' command from the swatch panel options does still work, but when trying to assign this function into an action, the action simply does not work. This was possible in CS4 (not sure about CS5), so I am left to conclude that this may be a bug in the software?

 

I have also tried to utilize the javascript and applescript API, but short of re-writing the entire function from scratch, this functionality does not seem to be implemented natively through either.. One thought I did have was to replace one swatch's color information with another selected swatch's information, but this seemed only to update the swatch it'self and not the artboard as well.

 

I'm open to any ideas or suggestions anybody has for me, or even better if Adobe will acknowledge it as an official bug..

 

I have only seen a couple people post about this issue, and I am a bit surprised more people are not mentioning it!

    We have noticed this as well. It's a real game stopper. I wish it was fixed.

    I have experienced the exact same issue. Loss of this actionability had made the new version pretty much unusable in our production setting. Too bad for us I guess.

    I'm curious to know of others out there that utilized an actionable "merge swatches" workflow. It is disappointing that this functionality has been removed.

    Yes this seems to be a Bug compared to the previous versions, it was still working in CS5.

    It is a dissappointing bug. It pretty much makes Illus. inefficient in our workflow. We've continued w/ Illus. 5.x because of this.

    Can't you merge swatches from the flyout menu than?

    You can but you can't put it into an action....well it shows up like it was recorded into the action but it doesn't actually work.

    Danny, that is exactly the issue. We need the automation of recordable actions to work with this particular flyout menu item.

    I just wanted to bump this issue..

     

    Can we at least get some official acknowledgement tat this is a bug, Adobe? Are you listening?

     

    We are still missing this feature and would love to see it fixed!

    Another bump for this issue. We've had the software for a couple of months but haven't used it because this one feature no longer works. It's a huge time killer in our workflow that it is no longer recordable.
