Move multiple clips as a group.

Mar 9, 2013 4:48 PM

When needing to apply the same Position animations to multiple clips, is there a way to "link" or "group" them together and just apply the animation settings to the group only?

I need the clips to remain separate, able to have their own effects, etc, while all moving in synch with each other.

I usually set the position/scale etc on 1 clip then select 'Motion' in Effects Controls panel and copy it (ctrl+c or right click and pick copy), then just select the clips in the timeline you want to apply the animations to and paste them (ctrl+v or mac equiv). It of course shows nothing in the effects control panel when you select multiple clips but if you now select them individually you'll see they have the motion keyframes applied. Not sure if there's a better way?

Set the effect on the first clip.  Right click, Copy.  Select all the other clips, right click, Paste Attributes.

There is a catch to when using Paste Attributes.

Everything (including the non fixed effects) gets copied and pasted from the copied clip.

If you just want properties from Motion do as Mark suggested.
