Searching for duplicates in PSE catalog?

Mar 11, 2013 11:13 AM

I am experiencing numerous duplicate photo images in my PSE catalog. I woud like to do a search of the catalog and bulk remove the duplicates. Is there a way to do this?

Depending on what version of PSE you have you can perform a search and then use the results to delete what you no longer need.

Find >> By Visual Searches >> Search for Visually Similar Photos

Sorry, it’s not available in PSE6. I think it was introduced in version 9 or 10

Try switching from thumbnail view by clicking the display button (near top right of Organizer) and use the folders or import batch which may help you tidy up.

See that faq by John R Ellis:

    http://www.johnrellis.com/psedbtool/photoshop-elements-faq.htm#_Find_a nd_delete

    That works with PSE6.

Once you have selected a number of files, you can either:

    - right click, choose stack and automatically suggest photo stacks

    - or the find menu, 'by visual similarity'
