I have an iMac and until today had no trouble opening Elements 11. The Editor screen opens then will not allow anything further. Help please? Should I unistall then re-install? Will I lose all the actions etc I have installed?
Many thanks in advance
Thank you for your quick response. I followed your suggestions without success unfortunately Some of the notes in suggestion 2 were not available on my iMac - Mountain Lion. I believe I messed things up originally by playing around with the fonts on the Mac! There are hundreds of them which makes it difficult to find one suitable for my project. In the end I had to uninstall and then re-install. I do appreciate your help thank you.
I was not able to open the screen as shown in your response:
Right click on 'PhotoshopElementsEditor.exe' and select 'Run as Admin' (similar to step #3 of workflow1 for Organizer). Just after this keep on pressing 'Ctrl+Alt+Shift' on Windows (or Command+Option+Shift on Mac). You will get following dialog: (etc)
I tend not to use the Organiser either as I have iPhoto but tend to store all my photos in the folder Pictures in the Finder. I also have a PC and use folders in a similar way to that on the Mac.
Uninstalling the program and then re-installing Elements worked well. The only problem is that having done that all the new fonts I had installed disappeared from the Mac list of fonts! I am reinstalling those but one at a time and then checking that Photohop opens. Some fonts had a caution by them but I have not installed those. I'm not Mac savvy enough do do anything more complicated.
Thank you again for your help.
Thanks GillieMe. Based on your experiance I have made some changes in the blog. I would highly appreciate if you could take a look and share if any thing needs change. Thanks a lot for your feedback.
I have had a look at the blog and as far as I can tell it looks ok. Having successfully re-installed Elements though I could not test whether the continual clicking on Command+Option+Shift would work (nothing happened as before) - merely right clicking then Open started the program. On the Mac there is no .exe file as such as Apple use different terminology, that is .dmg instead of .exe. Sorry but don't think I can help any more. GillieMe
Did you install the OS upgrade when PSE was already installed? I mean you installed PSE in 10.7 or earlier and then upgraded to 10.8?
If yes, then we will need to uninstall PSE, remove all saved applications states for PSE, remove all plist files and then reinstall. This will take a while but will surely fix your issue.
I will let you know the detailed steps once you confirm that that's the case with you.
Thank you for your quick response. Actually I have solved the problem by uninstalling and then re-installing PSE 11 - please see above correcpondence. All is fine now so this correspondence can be closed but thank you for your suggestions.
