Inner glow not working?

Hi, I'm new to photoshop and I recently bought photoshop elements 10.

 

I'm trying to do an online tutorial involving inner and outer glows. I can get the outer glow working correctly, however when I try to use the inner glow it doesn't seem to show up.

i have created a new layer and selected "simple" from the selection of inner glows, although nothing appeared to change (I drew a white line on a black background to see if there was any change). I tried editing the glow using the "fx" button, although this did not work either. However, the "fire" inner glow did work.

    Hi ,

     

    Please try to change the inner glow color next to its slider.

    may be glow does not appear too figurative just because of light color.
