there has been some talk lately about the Illustrator window not being Maximized when opening Ai files via double-clicking...I don't think this happens on macs though, but if it does, hope this fixes it too.
this script attempts to workaround the problem by resizing the window to a "maximum"
please MAXIMIZE the window manually before running the script.
be patient...it will take a couple of seconds to close and re open the application
sorry about that, you said the script did restarted Illustrator? I just tried in a different machine and it failed to restart, so I increased the wait time a little bit...
download it again (same link) or change the value in line 65 from 1000 to 2500
click the maximize button before running
is anyone having the same problem? please post if it works on your end.
Ok, that doesn't seem to hellp though. AI closes and restarts OK, but after that nothing seems to be changed, double-clicking to open a new document still un-maximises it. Just to make sure I have done it correctly: I open a document in AI, Maximise the AI window, then run the scrip. A dialog shows saying it will restart AI, I click OK and AI restarts maximised. Then I open a new document by double-clicking it and the AI window un-maximises. By running the script once, is that supposed to do something that makes the AI window open maximised every time after that?
correct, you would need to run the script only once and it should bring the app window to its maximum, after that, everytime you double-click on a file it should open and the app window is not supposed to resize down, it suppose to stay "maximized".
I wonder what's going on, I tried it on 3 different computers and it worked fine, all systems have Win 7 64, Ai CS5.
...let's wait and see if someone chimes in, before we start trouble shooting...
thanks for sending me the file, I sadly report that the setting has been removed from CS6
I need to go through all the settings to see if they moved it somewhere else or if they renamed it or what...
in the mean time, it DOES NOT WORK in CS6
sorry, I don't have CS6 to test any further, I know it is very aggravating but there's nothing I could do, try filing a bug report
