Well you cant really 'turn off' Spry. Simply avoid using it.
Here's the link that has more details about deprecation: http://blogs.adobe.com/dreamweaver/2012/08/update-on-adobe-spry-framew ork-availability.html
Btw, it will still be available via Adobe's Github account, but will no longer be officially developed/ supported in-house.
I already did alot of research and read that document. My interest is installing a update that removes this annoyance or disable it. I do not enjoy being forced into a solution that was never off the ground to begin with. With the amount of research into emerging technologies and when to support an emerging technology, Adobe simply dropped the ball forcing users into this now defunct solution. I cannot trust them to purchase the next version since I don't what other nonsense they will force me into. I am glad I did not lose too much money as I purchased a student edition.
I am now using other web editors and building my own tag libraries.
Yes, true. But I cannot configure the remote access without that dang SPRY directory which is not recognized for whatever reason. It was an absolute waste of my money and reflected extremely poorly on Adobe. Most likely it is a classic case of hiring inexperience people to save a buck. Some 30 something MBA came uip with the idea. They repeated errors companies had made regarding emerging technologies. There is plenty of history out there on this topic.
Anyhow, I relunctantly upgraded to the cloud and it works.
