I have just installed Dreamweaver CS6 and am working on some existing dynamic pages that were setup using DW CS4. At first I see the existing recordsets already on the page in the bindings panel. Then they disappear and I only see the + to add a recordset.
The site is setup. The testing server is remote. I can see all of the tables in the database in the "databases" panel so I know the connection to the database is working properly. Using VB Script with Access datase
I have updated CS6 to build 5861
I need a fix for this as soon as possible.
Seems like a problem with the DW Connections. Did you try closing/ re-opening the file to see if the recordsets are alive?
Also, generally, an incorrect server model may result in this issue.
I have tried closing and re-opening the file to see if the recordset are alive. The recordsets are there. I see them in DW CS4 and they work fine on the server. What server model should I use?
Here is the connection string, Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;Data Source=D:\Hosting\html\access_db\WatsonFund.mdb;
It seems strange that they would appear and then disappear.
Any more ideas?
Any suggestions as to what might be causing the recordsets to appear and disappear--actually the are not visible most of the time even though they are there and function perfectly on the web.
All of the pages I have tried were built using DWCS4 so there is no strange code involved. I can post the code if that would help.
Here is a recordset I added using DWCS6
Code at the top of the page:
<!--#include file="Connections/FoundDB.asp" -->
<!--#include file="ADMlockdown.asp" -->
<!--#include file="WatsonFund_Functions.asp" -->
Recordset just added
parentfsRS__MMColParam = "1"
If (Application("Profile_StudentID") <> "") Then
parentfsRS__MMColParam = Application("Profile_StudentID")
Set parentfsRS_cmd = Server.CreateObject ("ADODB.Command")
parentfsRS_cmd.ActiveConnection = MM_FoundDB_STRING
parentfsRS_cmd.CommandText = "SELECT Par_Finalsubmit, Par_UniqueID, Profile_StudentID FROM ParentFS WHERE Profile_StudentID = ?"
parentfsRS_cmd.Prepared = true
parentfsRS_cmd.Parameters.Append parentfsRS_cmd.CreateParameter("param1", 5, 1, -1, parentfsRS__MMColParam) ' adDouble
Set parentfsRS = parentfsRS_cmd.Execute
parentfsRS_numRows = 0
After I added this recordset I could see all of the recordsets in the bindings panel. I then closed DW and reopened it and the same page. No recordset were visible only the list of things needed to add a recordset. The site settings are all correct. I can see the database and tables in the database panel and the server behaviors all show in the server behavior panel.
I have been using DW for many years and have built hundreds of pages coded in asp classic with DW.
>It seems strange that they would appear and then disappear.
Do they disappear if you don't make any changes to the page? Are you prompted to save the file, and are you saving it, even if you made no modifications?
I agree, it is strange. I tested some of my PHP pages and one of those does the same thing. Although it has a working recordset, it shows nothing in the bindings panel. Shows the list of 4 things & click on the + to add a recordset.
Some of the ASP pages I have tested show recordsets in the bindings panel but when I try to explore them by clicking on them I can't see the fields. If I click on refresh, they all disappear and the bindings panel goes back to the "to use dynamic data..." screen .
Have you solved this? I am having exactly the same issue CS6. I create pages, test on WAMP, go live with them and they work fine. Open the local copies on WAMP and the bindings + server behaviors are gone - replaced with the to do list. However, they still function fine on the local WAMP server. Sometimes I get them to reappear by closing and opening the file or sometimes there's no bindings but there are some server behaviors. If that happenes, clicking on one of the behaviors kicks the bindings back. Weird.
Any other ideas on this issue? It driving me crazy.
I have shut down DW, dumped the .dat file in config. Made small change to page. etc. I can't get one of the record sets to show up. I can query, the page works online but bindings refuse to show a record set.
