This is very strange, but I cannot select the arrow so that I can select text boxes in my document. I'm also not able to select the "A at the top menu so that I can format the text. In fact, many of the buttons are unselectable, although some aren't. Why is this happening. I have never had this problem before.
Does this happen on only one file, or on more than one file.
If it happens on all files you try, try restoring InDesign's preferences. Here's how to do that:
It would also be helpful if you tell us what version of InDesign you're using, and what operating system you're running.
Thank you. I can now select the arrow on the left hand side to select boxes, but I still cannot access the "A" at the top or adjust any formatting from those buttons. I am using CS5 and I have Windows 7 Professional.
I have had this happen to me several times. I previously did a search here and on another posters comments, someone replied regarding not enough RAM to run Indesign correctly.
Check your system performance while this is happening. I fixed it using the following.
1. close indesign and relaunch.
2. close other programs, such as anti-virus scanning, photoshop, etc.
It always started working after that. Hope this helps.
