Symbols Tools selection shortcut no longer available in CS6

Here's how it worked...in CS5 Mac:

Cycle through Symbols Tools:

with Symbols Tool selected, press Option & Control keys, press stylus on page

all Symbols Tools appeared... choose desired tool.

Is there a new way?

 

It is surprising what has changed or been excluded in CS6...

    Actually you can still do that, but there's no feedback directly on the artboard. If you look in the toolbox, the tool will change.
