I am trying to install InDesign CS5 on my Samsung Windows 8.
It seems to hang the computer, bringing everything to a crawl for about 5-10 minutes.
No installation screen ever shows up.
Even any attempt to show the CD in File Explorer hangs things up.
Other CD's work fine in the drive.
Any clues?
When did you install Windows 8 on this laptop? Was Windows 8 pre-installed when you purchased it? Have you run all the updates by navigating to Windows updates from the control panel? If not, I would recommend you to first install all available updates (specifically the security and .NET packages from Windows updates). Reboot your computer after installing the security updates and then try to launch the installer and check for any issues.
This is a pre-installed Win8 with all automatic updates working properly.
However, when I clicked on Control Panel >> Find and Fix Problems >> Fix Problems With Windows Update
it found something an "fixed" it. I was then able to view the CD, but not run the installer. After rebooting, the installed worked.
Weird.
