My brushes and actions have disappeared from CS6

I am using CS6. I just opened the software after having to "force quit" PS yesterday so I could restart my computer (iMac running 10.8.3) and all of the brushes I created and actions I installed have disappeared! Is there an easy way to get them back without having to re-create them? Also, how do I prevent this from happening in the future? Thanks!
