Whenever I save a file as a jpeg, the resulting file has a white border around it. I can't find any way to turn that off. Is it possible?
A jpeg can't have any transparent areas in it, so you can't keep empty areas empty in a jpg--they will always fill with white. That's just the nature of jpeg files. Use PNG-24, Tiff, Gif, PSD instead when you need transparency.
Oooops. I misunderstood the problem. In my first use of PSE in a long time I've been cutting images from powerpoint and opening them as new files in PSE. Apparently that's where the border appears. Somehow I didn't notice it until I saved as jpegs and pasted back into Powerpoint. Sorry for starting a wild goose chase.
It is a pretty weird artifact, but it's easy to work around, and I can hardly blame PSE.
Thanks for the help. Sorry if I wasted your time.
