    In Dreamweaver>manage fonts>Adobe Edge Web Fonts, can you tell me why the white display boxes do not display the font sample text?

    I can't see the standard web fonts under TYPE in the CSS Rule definition dialog box.

    All I see are teh AdobeEdge webfonts.

    How can I get the standard list web fonts (Arial,Verdana, Times, etc.) to display?

    Hi Leonard,

    Can you post a screenshot of what you are seeing to help us quickly grasp the problem at hand?

    Thanks,

    Hi Oyvay,

    Assuming you are talking about the standard Font-Stacks (Font-Family options shipped with Dreamweaver by default), they are available under the "Custom Font Stacks" tab available under "Manage Fonts" dialog.  You can access this dialog by selecting "Manage Fonts..." option listed in the Font-Family drop-down combos in any of the following dialogs:

    1)  Properties Panel,

    2)  CSS Styles Panel,

    3)  Page Properties dialog,

    4)  New / Edit CSS rule definition dialog.

    Alternatively, you can use the "Modify -->  Manage Fonts..." menu option from Dreamweaver's main menu also.

    The older font-stacks that were available default have been replaced with a latest and updated set of fonts.  The older options - Arial, Verdana, ... are outdated.  Your existing pages created with earlier versions would still function the same but the pages created from now on can use the updated fonts set.

    You can go through the below article for further information on the Adobe Edge Web Fonts integration with Dreamweaver.  And in case you have any more queries, please do post back.  Thanks..

    Thank you. But this only begins to solve my problem.

    Before this latest version of Dreamweaver, there used to be a dfefault list of web fonts;

    Below is an image from my old copy of Dreamweaver. How can I restore this list?

    Hi LeonardBchilln,

    Can you try the following steps:

    1)  Navigate to your "AppData" folder;

    Typically,

    WIN:  "C:\Users\{YourUserName}\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Dreamweaver CS6\{YourLocale}\Configuration"

    MAC:  "/Users/{YourUserName}/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Dreamweaver CS6/{YourLocale}/Configuration"

    2)  Under this folder, ensure there are two sub-folders - FreeFonts, webfonts;

    3)  If they are present and your window is still displaying blank images, rename these two folders to some other names, say, FreeFonts_Temp & webfonts_Temp;

    4)  Quit and Relaunch Dreamweaver;

    5)  Open ManageFonts dialog from "Modify -->  Manage Fonts ..." menu command;

    6)  If the dialog is still blank, wait for a few minutes (about 10 minutes or so - depends on your Internet download speed) and then launch the dialog again;

    You should be able to see the images now.  Please do get back if this is not working.

    Thanks..

    Under Dreamweaver "Coniguration" I did not see a webfonts folder. I did find a FreeFonts folder.

    Thank you

    Sabapathy,

    I did not find a "webfonts" folder in Dreamweaver CS6, configuration.

    It seems I am missing a folder. Any suggestions?

    Thank you

    Nancy,

    How do I find and display/select the list of the latest default fonts that come with the popular browsers?

    Re-build your Font Stack manually in DW  by going to Modify > Font Families and use the resources below:

    CSS Font Stacks:

    Guide to using CSS Font Stacks

    Hope this helps.

    LeonardBchilln,

    The “webfonts” folder is created only when you’ve selected at-least one “Adobe Edge Web Font” from the “Manage Fonts” dialog.  As long as you’re able to see a FreeFonts directory in the mentioned location, it is fine.

    Could you try the following steps:

    1)    Renaming the “FreeFonts” directory into something else (say, “FreeFonts_Temp”);

    2)    Quit and re-launch Dreamweaver;

    3)    Open “Manage Fonts” dialog;

    4)    If there are no images present:

    a.       Close the dialog and wait for a few minutes (say about 5min for an decent internet connection);

    b.      Re-Open the dialog – The images should be displayed properly.

    5)    If not, could you please post back?

    Thanks,

    Sabapathy K S.

    Dear Sabapathy

    In DW CC I have the same issue as LeonardBchilln in not seeing the Edge font previews. I have followed the steps you outline above and still have the empty boxes problem, this after waiting half an hour. Can you offer any further help?

    Thanks

    Jon G

    Hi Jon,

    Can you post a detailed sequence of steps that you do and also a screenshot of what you're seeing?

    That may help.

    Thank you,

    Sabapathy K S.

    Hi Jon,

    1. Quit Dreamweaver CC.
    2. Navigate to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Dreamweaver CC\configuration\FreeFonts"
    3. If you can see fonts there, then check permissions on "Adobe Dreamweaver CC" folder.
    4. Apply Full rights and make the account name with which you are logged in as the owner on following folders.

              a. C:\Program Files (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Dreamweaver CC

              b. C:\Users\{YourUserName}\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Dreamweaver CC

       5. Follow the link for help on how to apply permissions.

       6. Launch DW CC and check if this helps.

    Thanks

    Bhawna

    Hi Guys, thank you for your help. Firstly, I'm so sorry, I should have said that I'm on a Mac (MLion) and the issue is with DW CC.

    Sabapathy, the steps I followed were the 5 you outlined. After I'd renamed the Free Fonts folder, after about 10 mins a new Free Fonts folder appeared alongside the renamed one. Still the same problem though, see screengrab.

    screen-capture.png

    Bhawna, I gave 'everyone' 'Read & Write' permission to the following folders:

    - Computer/Library/Adobe

    - Computer/User/Library/Application Support/Adobe

    - Applications/Adobe Dreamweaver CC

    and 'Applied to enclosed items...' for all of them and checked that this had applied, right down to the Free Fonts folder for example. I then restarted the computer and relaunched Dreamweaver. I'm afraid the screengrab attached still represents the position.

    I'm sorry about this but can you offer any further help?

    Thanks, Jon

    Hi Jon,

    Are you able to see any files under the folder you've mentioned?

    If so, can you check for a certain "FreeFonts.json" file and ~500 png images?

    Thanks,

    Sabapathy K S.

    Hi Sabapathy,

    yes I can - see screengrab of part of that folder.

    screen-capture-1.png

    I have yet to uninstall DW CS6 (was waiting to be sure settings etc had carried forward OK). Could there be some conflict with that?

    Thanks,

    Jon
